About the teams
Our Teacher Policy Teams are comprised of educators who help shape policy by reviewing research, studying models in other districts and states, surveying other educators, and meeting with high level leaders in our community.
This summer, E4E will host two Teacher Teams – a Teacher Policy Team on the topic of “Re-envisioning the Teacher Preparation Experience” and a Teacher Action Team on “Ending Racial Disparities in School Discipline.”
Teacher Policy Team on Teacher Prep
The Teacher Policy Team on Teacher Prep will be comprised of 15-20 educators who meet weekly for two months (June – July). They will craft policy recommendations by reviewing research on the best ways to train educators, studying different models across the country, surveying educators on needs, and meeting with high-level leaders in our community. The Team will focus its recommendations at the state level of policy-making in advance of the 2016 legislative session.
Teacher Action Team on Discipline Disparity
The Teacher Action Team on Discipline Disparity will be comprised of 8-10 educators who meet semi-regularly for three months (June-August) to research best practices for reducing racial disparities in discipline, seek to identify local schools/districts that have successfully reduced disciplinary actions for students of color, and identify key policy levers at the district level for ensuring educators and students have the proper supports to implement these practices. The Team will focus on district and school-level practices to implement immediately in the fall of the 2015 school year.
